Our Story
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Love Is Mighty Rescue was founded on the principle that every animal deserves respect, kindness, and compassion. Our founder, a life long vegan and animal lover, has been advocating for all animals, especially farm animals that face heartbreaking exploitation and unimaginable abuse in the factory farming industry for most of her life. It was over 10 years ago that she learned of the dog meat trade. Heartbroken by the cruelty dogs faced, she wanted to help in some way. She knew she wanted to create a rescue dedicated to giving these dogs a second chance at safety, care, and love. With dreams of one day creating a farm sanctuary for farm animals, dogs, and other animals, who have faced abuse, neglect, and cruelty. She hopes to build a safe and nurturing space where all animals are treated with care, kindness, and compassion; where every life matters. Because all animals are individuals, and they all matter.
What We Do
We are a foster-based rescue dedicated to helping dogs from South Korea that have endured heartbreaking circumstances — puppy mills, high-kill shelters, life outside in chains, abandonment, harsh weather conditions, wildfires, dog meat farms, and slaughter houses. So many of them have endured unimaginable hardship, and we are dedicated to helping them find the warmth, care, and love they deserve in a forever home. Together, we can give these dogs the chance to thrive, and their hearts the chance to heal from the trauma of their past.
Why We Do What We Do
Because of social stigma in Korea and the strong preference for small purebred dogs, mixed-breed, older, larger, and abandoned dogs are often overlooked and face very little chance of being adopted. By bringing them into loving homes in the U.S., we give them a second chance at life while raising awareness of the conditions they face in Korea and the importance of spay and neuter programs to address overpopulation.
The Impact We Hope to Make
Our goal is to give these dog a second chance at life and to shine a light on the challenges they face in Korea and elsewhere. We aim to change perceptions about overlooked dogs, promote responsible pet ownership, and support spay and neuter programs to reduce overpopulation. Ultimately, we hope to create a world where all animals are treated with care, respect, and compassion.
